The Bristol Hippodrome stages major West End and Broadway productions throughout the year, with a popular programme of musicals, ballet, opera, concerts, comedians and children’s shows.

Bristol Old Vic is Britain's oldest working theatre, with a diverse programme of classic theatre productions, children's shows and groundbreaking works from emerging talent. You can also book on to regular tours of this historic theatre, or take in the surrounds of the building in the Kitchen + Bar. Bristol Old Vic Theatre School trains students in acting, design, costume, technical skills, writing and directing, with courses available to young people and adults. 

Tobacco Factory Theatres in Southville have a jam-packed programme of theatre, puppetry, comedy, children’s and music events, while The Wardrobe Theatre in Old Market focuses on emerging and Bristol-based artists, with a mix of theatre, comedy, storytelling, live music, poetry/spoken word, dance, puppetry, cabaret, drag, improvisation, new writing and family shows.

The Bristol Improv Theatre is the UK’s first full-time dedicated improv theatre. They host local and international improv shows, run workshops and also host regular nights such as improvised game show The Bish Bosh Bash and improvised musical theatre show This Is Your Musical.

The Redgrave Theatre in Clifton hosts a wide variety of productions including operas, musicals, stand-up comedy, theatre and dance.
