South of the city, you'll find Southville, Bedminster and Totterdown, all lively areas popular with city dwellers.
From Temple Meads station, you'll see the pretty painted houses lining the hills of Totterdown. It's worth venturing here to enjoy the amazing views of the city, or 'totter down' Vale Street, one of the steepest streets in Bristol.
Southville is a popular spot to enjoy a relaxing drink and some great food. The Tobacco Factory has a great bar, and you'll love the outstanding theatre and Shakespeare. They also hold a weekly Saturday market.
Things to Do
Head to Horseworld visitor centre in Whitchurch, where you can meet and greet rescued horses, ponies and donkeys, touch and groom the animals and visit their interactive museum. You can follow a nature trail and relax in the picnic area - it's a great place for family days out and children's parties.
Noah's Ark Zoo Farm is based in Wraxall, where you'll find rhinos and Gerald the giraffe. They have a hands on approach, and you'll love holding baby chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs or feeding the deer and camels. There are daily shows, animal encounters and huge indoor and outdoor adventure playgrounds, all in a scenic farm setting.
Tyntesfield is a Victorian country house, with historic contents, gardens, park and estate buildings. It's been phenomenally popular since reopening and you can now take a self-guided tour.
