Bristol Zoo Gardens has welcomed a horde of new animals for the festive season - in the shape of bright lights to twinkle over the Zoo for Christmas.
The animal lights are life-size and come in the shape of giraffes, elephants, polar bears, penguins, pelicans and monkeys. The illuminations are part of the Zoo's Christmas festivities and have kick started the season of goodwill at the Clifton attraction.
Festive fun at Bristol Zoo Gardens this winter includes a magical Santa's Grotto (now open), a giant Christmas tree and carol singing evenings with mulled wine and a giant bonfire to warm your vocal chords! The carol concerts include one evening of traditional Salvation Army carols and two nights with a conventional choir as well as a gospel choir. Three animal houses will be open late and Santa will be in his grotto on each of the three evenings between 6pm and 8pm.
To top it all off, the Zoo's winter ice rink runs right through Christmas (excluding Christmas Day) until January 13, with skating slots available both day and night. The Ice Rink is being presented in association with SGA Productions Limited, one of the UK's leading 'family experience' companies.
Lark Porter, Bristol Zoo Gardens' Christmas events coordinator, said: "The Zoo is a very special place at this time of year. Our giant Christmas tree, Santa's Grotto, ice skating rink and animal shaped lights, along with more than 400 species of animals, make for a great winter day out."
Bristol Zoo is also selling sustainable Christmas trees from its car park in College Road until Sunday December 23. These quality, locally sourced Christmas trees are all from sustainably managed sources.
