Bristol was the birthpace of methodism, and you can visit the oldest mathodist chapel in the world here, plus many other spectacular churches and religious buildings.

John Wesley's Chapel, the oldest Methodist building in the world. See Wesley's artefacts including bed,clock,gown and books. Charles Wesley's house is open by arrangement.
Visit the only remaining part of the Hospital of Gaunt, The Lord Mayor's Chapel, built in 1230.
Founded in the 13th century, St Mary Redcliffe is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the country.
Bristol Cathedral has developed architecturally throughout the ages. Founded as an abbey in 1140, a cathedral in 1542 and has one of the finest 'hall churches' in the world.
St John the Baptist Church is the only surviving 12th century church built on the Saxon inner town wall with an atmospheric 14th century crypt.
Glastonbury Abbey has 2000 years of history and is the legendary burial ground of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere.
