In this illustrated talk, UWE historians Madge Dresser and Peter Fleming will have just completed a three year Lottery-funded project on 1001 years of ethnic minorities in Bristol and their impact on Bristol's civic identity. What was discovered? What role did the public play in the writing of this history? Can this project point the way to a more far-reaching re-interrogation of Bristol's and Britain's history?
