Rugby World Cup 2025

Ashton Gate Stadium will host both semi-finals and two quarter-finals of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, when the biggest-ever celebration of women’s rugby comes to England.

The quarter-finals will take place on the weekend of 13 September and the semi-finals on the weekend of 19 September, with the Red Roses to play their quarter-final match at Ashton Gate should they progress!

Women's Rugby World Cup Fan Zone in Bristol

There will be a free to visit Fan Zone in Bristol Amphitheatre (postcode BS1 5LL) to coincide with the quarter-final fixtures on 13 - 14 and 19 - 20 September, featuring live entertainment, rugby ‘have-a-go’ sessions and other family-friendly sports activities across both weekends. There will also be a huge screen to watch all of the quarter-finals and semi-finals, plus many food and drink options. You do not need a ticket to access the Fan Zone.

Please note that the Fan Zone is open-air and uncovered, so please check the weather ahead of time and dress accordingly.

The Fan Zone will be hosted by former England international Amber Reed and Welsh rising star Jenna De Vera, who will keep the crowds energised across the weekends.

You'll also be able to practice your swing in the inflatable batting cages from Gloucestershire County Cricket, play mini golf with Par 59, have a go at the ice hockey shooting tunnel with Bristol Pitbulls, or take on the non-contact boxing zone from Empire Fighting Chance. There will also be a climbing wall from Mendip Activity Centre, activities with We The Curious, and lots more to enjoy.

Families can enjoy a range of craft activities and watch live painting of a new mural in the Amphitheatre on 14 September. Keep your eyes peeled for roaming Circus City performers on quarter-finals weekend, and live music and dance performances on semi-finals weekend.

Bristol Fan Zone FAQs

The Fan Plaza at Ashton Gate for ticket holders ONLY, with food, drink, live entertainment, and more. Ashton Gate Stadium is linked to the Fan Zone at Bristol Amphitheatre via a dedicated Rugby World Cup 2025 walking route that takes in some of the key cultural sites in Bristol:

  • Follow the Rugby World Cup branded directional signage via Pero's bridge, then across Prince Street Bridge and down Museum Street. Continue along onto Gas Ferry Road, then down Hanover Street, and follow the river to cross at Ashton Avenue Bridge. Follow the walking path to cross Jessop Underpass and walk through Greville Smyth Park to enter the stadium via Ashton Road.

Getting to the matches in Bristol

On foot

A dedicated walking route links the city centre to the stadium and takes approximately 45 minutes. Follow the Rugby World Cup-branded directional signage throughout the city centre.

Shuttle Buses

Three dedicated shuttle services will serve Ashton Gate Stadium on match days. All shuttle services must be pre-booked in advance. It will not be possible to pay for match day shuttle services on the day. Find out more about matchday travel and shuttle buses here

  • Route 1 (R1): Portway Park and Ride to/from Ashton Gate Stadium
  • Route 2 (R2): Brislington Park and Ride to/from Ashton Gate Stadium
  • Route 3 (R3): Bristol Temple Meads, Haymarket & St Augustine's Parade to Ashton Gate Stadium and vice versa

By boat

Bristol Ferry Boats is operating a dedicated Rugby World Cup 2025 match day service that will link the city centre and Fan Zone location on Bristol Amphitheatre with The Cottage Inn, where fans can then enjoy the short walk to Ashton Gate Stadium. Frequency: Approximately every 40 minutes. Drop off/Pick up locations: Temple Quay / Castle Park / City Centre / Wapping Wharf / SS Great Britain / Mardyke / The Cottage.

By train

Bristol Temple Meads Station is served by routes from across the UK, with interchange for local services to Parson Street Station, which is a 20-minute walk from Ashton Gate Stadium (please note that there is no step-free access at Parson Street Station). Temple Meads is a 20-minute walk from the harbourside Fan Zone and a 45-minute walk from Ashton Gate Stadium - the official Rugby World Cup walking route will be clearly marked.

Cycling and e-scooters

Cycle racks are available at Ashton Gate stadium for those fans looking to arrive by bicycle. Make sure to arrive early, as bike racks can fill up fast on match days.

Dott e-bikes and scooters apply geo-fencing around the stadium footprint, which means that they must be docked at dedicated parking areas along Winterstoke Road and Marsh Road. Please remember to only ride one person per e-scooter and park them responsibly in locations that will not present a hazard for fellow fans. Riders must register in advance to use Dott.

Across six weekends from 22 August to 27 September, fans will have the chance to watch the world’s 16 best teams and the biggest stars of the game compete at eight locations across the length and breadth of the country, culminating in a grand finale at the world’s largest dedicated rugby union venue, Twickenham Stadium, London.

Soak up the matchday atmosphere and watch all the action on the giant screen in the Independence Sports Bar on Saturday 27 September. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.

Join in with yarn bombing ahead of the tournament

Head to local Crochet Cafes to create a crochet Red Rose to help support our England Red Roses team in the upcoming competition. The roses can then be displayed at venues across the city ahead of the games being played in Bristol.
