Bristol's Clean Air Zone

Bristol operates a Clean Air Zone in the city centre area. 

The UK Government sets legal limits for pollution and as a result, Bristol is required to operate a Clean Air Zone to ensure it meets those limits in the shortest possible time.

Check if your vehicle will be charged and how to pay

Over 71% of vehicles travelling into Bristol already meet the zone's emission standards. Only older and more polluting vehicles will be charged.

As a general guide, charges will NOT apply to:

• Euro 4, 5 and 6 petrol vehicles, manufactured from 2006 onwards 
• Euro 6 diesel vehicles, manufactured from 2015 onwards
• Fully electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
• Modified or retrofitted vehicles registered with the Energy Saving Trust's Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS)  
• Motorbikes

If you do need to pay, you can view the charges and how to pay using the link below. You will be able to pay the charge to enter Bristol's Clean Air Zone up to six days before or six days after your vehicle enters the zone. You will not receive any reminders and it is your responsibility to ensure you pay the charge if it applies to your vehicle.
